Fremont woman killed in shooting Sunday
A Fremont woman was shot to death Sunday. The Toledo Blade reports that 26 year-old Gabriella Rojas was pronounced dead after being found at an address on Willow Street. 30 year-old Mauricio Valois-Perez has been charged with murder.
Toledo man dies in 2-vehicle crash on Ohio Turnpike Friday
A two vehicle crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Milan Township Friday claimed the life of a Toledo man. It took place Friday morning when a Dodge Stratus with four occupants sideswiped a Ford Explorer while attempting to pass it; resulting in the Stratus overturning and ejecting two of its’ passengers. One of those passengers, 19 year-old Amauri Stenson of Toledo died, after being trapped under the vehicle. The three other passengers, all 18 year-old men from Toledo, in the Stratus were also seriously injured in the crash. The crash is under investigation with charges pending.
Huron County Public Health hands out awards
Huron County Public Health recently honored their employees by giving out their annual Service Excellence Awards. Among the honorees were Vital Statistics Registrar Peggy Clements, who received the ‘Ownership Award’, given to an employee with a “can-do attitude” and sound business judgment. Huron County Public Health is also one of three organizations to receive the ‘Adolescent Excellence Award’ this year from the Ohio Department of Health. The award recognizes the health department for immunization coverage in the community.
Norwalk Area United Fund holding ‘Basket Basics’ program
The Norwalk Area United Fund are preparing now for their ‘Basket Basics’ program. On Tuesday, bags full of household and personal items for over 100 people will be packed, to be given out to those in need who wouldn’t specifically ask for help; but have been suggested to the organization by local community leaders. Western Reserve Schools hosting blood drive
Western Reserve schools are hosting a blood drive Tuesday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm; sponsored by The Western Reserve Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Blood donations will provide Western Reserve students with scholarship money. To participate, call 419-668-8470, extension 2035, for an appointment.
