Huron County Election Results
-Along with Donald Trump winning Ohio and the presidency, and Rob Portman topping Ted Strickland for U.S. Senate here in the Buckeye state, it was definitely a night to remember for the Republican Party; with the GOP sweeping all contested battles in Huron County.
-Bruce Wilde defeated Michael Nottke for one of the races for County Commissioner, while Terry Boose was victorious in the other Huron County Commissioner battle.
-There will be a new sheriff in town, as Todd Corbin nearly doubled up incumbent Dane Howard in votes for Huron County Sheriff.
-James Joel Sitterly defeated Daivia Kasper for Prosecutor.
-Jan Tkach won over Marilyn Dillon for County Recorder.
As far as money issues go…
-The school issues for Norwalk and New London passed.
-The Plymouth-Shiloh school levy renewal failed.
For cities and villages…
-The following all passed: Norwalk City, Bellevue parks, both Greenwich Township and Village, North Fairfield, and Huron County Public Health.
-The Plymouth Village cemetery issue failed.
-Other winners include U-S Senator Rob Portman, and Representatives Marcy Kaptur, Jim Jordan and Bob Gibbs.
Trash pick-up reminders for Norwalk residents
The City of Norwalk has issued a reminder to residents concerning general trash pick-up. The city says that no person shall refuse to accumulate for longer than a week, all must remove empty cans from the curbside location by 6:00 am the day following pick-up, and no resident shall place bags or cans out for curbside pick-up before 4:00 pm the day before trash day.

The Norwalk Area United Fund’s ‘Dine-out’ fundraiser continues today at The Pizza Post on East Main in Norwalk. A percentage of today’s sales at The Pizza Post will go toward the Norwalk United Fund’s 2017 Community Campaign.
