Election Day Info

Today is ‘Election Day’… Polls are open throughout the state today until 7:30 pm. All voters must bring proper identification with them to the polls such as a driver’s license, military ID, or a current utility bill with the voter’s name and proper address.Lots on the ballot in Huron County including the race for Sheriff, County Commissioner, Prosecutor, and State Representative, as well as school and city issues in Norwalk, Plymouth, Bellevue, and Greenwich. News Director Josh Bowman will have Huron County election results live tonight on 95.3 WLKR during and after the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball broadcast, until midnight.

 

Cedar Point workers on strike

Laborer union members from Cedar Point are on strike after voting down a contract offer from Cedar Point and Cedar Point late last week. Business Manager Brian Francis for the Local 480 union told the Sandusky Register that it wasn’t what they wanted financially; citing executives’ salaries increasing, but not theirs. The union includes 76 full-time laborers along with electricians, carpenters, painters, and plumbers.

The park responded with a statement Monday morning saying the union had rejected the agreement reached at the bargaining table earlier in the day Friday; and are “currently engaged in an unnecessary and likely unlawful strike.”v

 

Fire destroys Greenwich mobile home, no one hurt

A fire in Greenwich on Friday completely destroyed a mobile home and everything inside.  No one was injured in the blaze, but Brandon and Jordan Sellars and their four children at Lot 53 of the Woodlyn Acres Mobile Home Park on US 224, lost “everything but the clothes on their back,” said fire Chief David Seidel to the Norwalk Reflector.  The family’s puppy and kitten also perished in the fire, which fire authorities believe to be electrical.

 

Milan State Trooper receives Ace Criminal Patrol Award
Ohio State Highway Patrol, Milan Post Trooper Christopher Beyer has received the ‘Criminal Patrol Award’ from the Highway Patrol.  Trooper Beyer will receive a certificate and uniform ribbon for his excellence in felony enforcent.
