Woman from Wadsworth dies in Danbury Township crash

A two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Danbury Township claimed the life of a Wadsworth woman.  64 year-old Jetta Fete of Wadsworth was killed after failing to yield at a stop sign on South Danbury Road while attempting to turn on to State Route 269, and was then struck by another vehicle, shortly after 4:00 pm on Monday.  A passenger in Fete’s vehicle, 32 year-old Megan Mahoney of Spencer was reported in critical condition following the crash.  A second passenger in Fete’s car as well as the driver of the other vehicle, were also injured.  The crash remains under investigation by the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

 

Elyria man facing prison time for Involvement in Pizza Shop Robbery

It’s four years in prison for 36 year-old Matthew Ware of Elyria for his role in an armed robbery last year at Sambino’s Pizza.  Police say, Ware was an ‘inside man’ working at the pizza place; and helping three other men rob the shop.  All have pled ‘guilty’ and likely face prison-time.

 

Tiffin woman perishes in two-vehicle crash near Fostoria

The Highway Patrol believes, a blown front tire triggered a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Route 18 in Loudon Township near Fostoria.  Troopers say, 76 year-old Carol Engle of Tiffin died, when a pick-up driven by 22 year-old Keith Gottfried of Upper Sandusky veered left of center after blowing a tire.  Gottfried was not seriously hurt.

 

Ohio’s Gas Prices continue to drop

A gallon of regular gas in Ohio was averaging $2.10 in Monday’s survey from AAA Auto Club Ohio, dropping 11 cents from the average reported last week and 60 cents under the state average a month ago.  Monday’s national average of $2.23 is higher than Ohio, but 15 cents below the national average a month ago.  This time last year, the state average was $2.62 and the national average was $2.76.  Gas prices at the pump continue to benefit from crude oil remaining relatively less expensive than in recent years.

 

Wooster/Marshall Phase 5 Project Continues in Norwalk

Now through Friday, Wooster Street between Franklin Street and Rule Street will be closed in Norwalk, as the 2016 Wooster/Marshall Phase 5 Project continues.  Crews will have the mentioned section of Wooster Street closed for concrete restoration work.  Follow the City of Norwalk on Facebook for timely updates.
