28-year-old Brandon White of Lucasville was sentenced yesterday in Hocking County Common Pleas Court, after pleading guilty in September to charges of theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Along with prison time, White must pay nearly $50,000 restitution. According to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, White used bad checks and falsified documents to steal cattle and trailers in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. Under the names B&S Trucking and Livestock, and Brandon’s Cattle Company, White targeted farmers who advertised cattle for sale on Craigslist. He bought the animals using accounts with insufficient funds, and then sold the cattle quickly, before the checks bounced. He also falsified documents to steal trailers to transport the cattle.
