A Norwalk man charged with the summer slaying of a Florida man will not stand trial.

That’s because 23-year-old Eric Carroll will spend ten years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Carroll entered a guilty plea to the charges yesterday, in exchange for the prosecutor’s office dismissing charges of murder and felonious assault, and a joint recommendation of ten years behind bars. The charges were tied to the August 21st death of 24-year-old Ronald Wisniewski of Florida. Carroll fatally stabbed Wisniewski, during a dispute outside a Bouscay Avenue apartment.

More trouble, in the Vermilion police department.

Just days after a patrolman and a dispatcher were fired for having an affair while the officer was on duty, a captain has been suspended for supporting marijuana legalization. A picture on Facebook shows Michael Reinheimer wearing a pin that says I Support Legalize 2016, near his badge on his uniform jacket. Vermilion officials said the pin violates department policy to endorse any kind of political issue. Reinheimer will have a pre-disciplinary hearing later this week. He could face termination.

Tonight’s the night members of Norwalk City Council will get their first look at the city’s proposed 2016 budget.

No mail, but trash pickup will go on as scheduled.

State Route 13, between Alpha Road and U.S. Route 224 in Greenwich Township will be closed all of next week, for railroad crossing reconstruction.

An official detour will be posted.

The museum’s Chris Gillcrist says, they’re premiering a new documentary on those 17 years of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
