The Ohio State Highway Patrol and ODOT will be launching a distracted driving safety corridor on a section of Route 2 in Erie County.
It’ll be located in a 21-mile stretch of Route 2 between Routes 4 and 60.
From 2016 to 2020, the mentioned section of Route 2 had 700 crashes, with over 100 resulting in injuries and 6 deaths.
Since 2019, 25 of those crashes have been related to distracted driving.
Motorists will see an increased presence of troopers and signage within this area.

The City of Bellevue is moving forward with plans to house a medical marijuana dispensary.
According to the Sandusky Register, Bellevue City Council has given their OK for the dispensary to be located on West Main Street at the one-time Family Video store.
The city is looking to bring in a dispenser from Akron, Klutch Cannabis, who’s awaiting a license from the state that they are confident in receiving.

In COVID numbers…
There were 32 new reported cases in Huron County on Monday.
For the first time since early July, the number of new COVID cases in Lorain County has dropped…859 this week, compared to 953 last week. In early July, the number of active cases in Lorain County had dropped to 10.
The state saw a lower number of reported cases Monday with 3,600, which compares to the rolling 21-day average of 6,500.

Members of Avon Lake City Council hope to send a message to drivers…
…obey the law when it comes to passing school buses.
Drivers who do not, may be fined 500 to 750 dollars.

The numbers are in from the U-S Census Bureau, and they show; Wellington will remain a ‘village’ until further notice.
According to the Chronicle Telegram, Wellington’s population falls about 200 residents below ‘city’ status.

It’s not every day drivers in North Ridgeville find a 6-foot-long snake in the middle of Lorain Road, but yesterday was the day.
A ranger from the Lorain County Metro Parks rounded up the so-called ‘rat snake’ and found a new home for it.

The Huron County Veteran Service Commission is accepting reservations for rides and free admission to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus.
It’s for the November 10th trip and beyond.
The commission is offering any Huron County veteran, surviving spouse, Gold Star families, and a guest free admission and transportation to the museum.

New London is paying tribute to one of their own.
Robin Meade, 20-year host of Morning Express on the HLN Network, and 1987 New London High School grad, is the longest current running host of a TV news program.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that Meade recently returned home with family and friends where HLN surprised her by airing a live feed of her visit.
Plus, New London recently unveiled a new sign in its 4 major entrances to town saying “Welcome to New London, Ohio – the Hometown of Robin Meade”

They’re asking anyone who had an electrical inspection performed by former building official Robert Kurtz, to schedule a re-inspection.
