It was a history-making night for Cleveland Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall.

A missing adult alert was issued this morning after a 93-year-old man left the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Paul Berkild was last seen yesterday afternoon.  He was wearing khaki pants, a turquoise shirt, yellow coat and a white hat and was driving a tan Buick Lecerne.  Berkild has several medical conditions and is in need of his medications.  Anyone with information should contact Sandusky Police.

 

Two 13-year-old Huron girls who disappeared over the weekend were found yesterday.

Authorities had been searching for Zoe Koehler and Maggie Freeman since Sunday morning. The two went to Ohio Bike Week Saturday night, without permission, then met up with two Sandusky boys. They were found late yesterday morning, at CVS in Sandusky. Both girls were taken to the Erie County Juvenile Detention Center, and were later released to relatives. The two girls now face delinquency charges.

 

Today is when Erie Blacktop crews will begin resurfacing U.S. Route 250, at the city limits on Norwalk’s north side.

Crews will continue, until the city limits are reached on the south end of town. Once that happens, crews will turn around and move from south to north. Flaggers will maintain one lane of traffic during the process. Motorists should find alternate routes, or expect delays. The repaving of Route 250 in Norwalk is expected to last until late August.

The city’s street resurfacing continues this week, with crews focusing on Simpson Street, South Church Street, Eastwood Drive, Henry Street, Rosedale Blvd, Wooster Street, West Water Street and Clifton Street.

 

To Perkins Township where East Strub Road, near Milan Road is closed to all thru traffic until after July 4th.

However, nearby businesses will remain accessible.  Plans call for the pavement to be removed and replaced.

 

Grant money is being used, to pay for high visibility DUI, speed and seat belt patrols in Erie County.

Deputies are paying special attention to the State Routes 2, 4, 6, 60 and 61 corridors, along with U.S. Route 250.

 

Charges are pending against three teens accused of vandalizing homes and cars in New London.

According to village police, a 19-year-old and two 17-year-olds used spray paint to leave graffiti over the weekend. There were 16 total incidents, including 4 cars.

 

Jobless workers must post their resumes on Ohio’s online job-search site, take three assessments and finish a career questionnaire to keep receiving unemployment compensation.

State officials hope the new rules will expedite the job-search process for many unemployed workers.  In most cases, unemployment benefits will be suspended for those who fail to meet the requirements.
