Two men from Lorain are among those who face charges in Sandusky after a fatal shooting this past weekend.
Police say, 25-year-old Lavelle Chapman and 22-year-old Exavier Cruz are in jail.
Police say, 41-year-old Tavon Myers was shot and killed…caught in the crossfire during an argument over drugs and money.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Lorain County has surged past 9-thousand.
In state COVID-19 numbers released Monday, 63 new deaths were reported.
That surpasses 7,000 total deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Statewide, the Ohio Department of Health reported nearly 93-hundred new cases on Monday.

An update on COVID-19 cases in the Norwalk City School District…
Superintendent George Fisk said Monday that one staff member from Maplehurst Elementary, one staff member from Norwalk Middle School and one student from Main Street Intermediate have tested positive.

The Ohio Education Association is calling on state lawmakers and local school districts, to suspend in-person classes through January 11th, due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
Currently, about 35-percent of public schools in Ohio are conducting in-person classes.

A Norwalk man faces charges after police say he shot a woman in the backside.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that 61-year-old Darwin Grodi was taken to the Huron County Jail…while the female victim was treated and released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car, serious injury crash that occurred on Monday around 5:00 pm on State Route 53 in Ottawa County’s Bay Township.
The State Patrol says that 68-year-old Danny Wamsley of Oak Harbor went left-of-center and struck the vehicle of 34-year-old Adam Borror of Port Clinton, head-on.
Both drivers were flown from the scene due to their serious injuries.

A former director of the Avon Lake Public Library has died.
Judy Riggle was 81.
She was named Ohio Librarian of the Year in 1999, and was active in Rotary and the League of Women Voters.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project last Friday, Saturday and Sunday to focus on impaired driving enforcement.
During the project, 237 people in Ohio were cited for impaired driving.

Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted announced Monday the approval of assistance for 16 projects set to create 4,000-plus new jobs and retain over 1,000 jobs statewide.
That includes Lewco Inc., in Ottawa County’s Erie Township, which expects to create more than 150 full-time positions; as a result of the company’s redevelopment project.

The City of Sandusky recently announced that Jonathan Holody will be joining the City of Sandusky in January as the Director of Community Development.
Selected from over 40 applicants, his responsibilities will include overseeing staff and activities related to planning, zoning, recreation, Sandusky Transit, community development and economic development.
Holody will come to Sandusky from Euclid, where he currently serves as the Director of Planning and Development.

– In high school football news…All-Ohio accolades were handed out in Divisions 6 and 7 on Monday…Receiving high honors were St. Paul linebacker Will Stieber and punter Tyler Perkins; as they were both named to the first team in Division 7. A number of other local players also received recognition from the state.
