No one was hurt during an early morning fire Tuesday in Sandusky that began at an uninhabited home. 

According to the Sandusky Register, fire personnel responded to a blaze on North Depot Street that eventually spread to an occupied residence and a vacant storage facility.

Four people reportedly escaped the residence.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

No injuries are reported from a house fire in Wellington…

It broke out late Monday night on Bennett Street.

Damage is pegged at more than 50-thousand-dollars.

No word yet on what sparked the fire…

 

Perkins Township Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people that are wanted for questioning in the theft of a rare snake from a Sandusky pet store.

The alleged theft took place last Wednesday at the PetCo on Crossing Road. 

A photo of the man and woman has been posted on the Perkins Township P-D’s Facebook page.

 

In October, Huron County Public Health will be awarded $35,000 for continued funding of its’ Safe Communities Grant.

The grant’s mission is to save lives and reduce injuries on Ohio’s roads through leadership and partnering efforts with agencies and organizations; including law enforcement, schools and media.

 

The Firelands Ambulance Service of New London has 90 days to respond to a state auditor’s report, critical of their financial reporting for 2017 and 2018.

The issues primarily stem from bank reconciliations.

 

Perkins Township is hosting an auction this Saturday…

The auction will feature seized and forfeited items, items found but not claimed and items no longer needed by the Township.

Up for bid…plumbing items, sporting goods, electronics, tools, bikes and much more…even a hydraulic jack.

It starts at 10:00 am at Perkins Township offices on Columbus Avenue.

All items will be sold “as is”. 

 

It appears Geauga County is getting the first crack at actor Liam Neeson.

He was spotted yesterday in Chardon, filming scenes for his forthcoming movie, “The Minuteman”.

Filming is expected to move to Lorain County in October, with two shoots planned in Wellington.

 

It’s time once again to ‘Dine Out for the FUNd of it”…

Today kicks off the 13-week restaurant fundraiser that helps raise money for the Norwalk Area United Fund.

A portion of the today’s sales at Sidelines in Norwalk will go back to the United Fund to help support local programs and grants.
