An apparent break-in and robbery at Kay Jewelers in the Sandusky Mall last night…
According to a Perkins Township Police report, a caller advised authorities of a robbery there involving five individuals and a sledgehammer…with the suspects fleeing in possibly two vehicles.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced that local emergency call centers can now apply for grants to upgrade to Next Generation 9-1-1 technology.
The funding is being made possible through a federal $4.3 million grant.
The new internet protocol-based system enables the exchange of digital information…including text messages and eventually photos and videos.
A smoking cell phone is being blamed for a brief evacuation yesterday at the Avon High School cafeteria.
The phone was removed from the school…and no one was hurt.
A Sandusky woman was arrested on several charges Sunday following a car chase.
Authorities say they found 28-year-old Alicia Greathouse in the backyard of a home on Putnam Street after she reportedly crashed her car into a utility pole.
This followed a vehicle pursuit that authorities called off due to dangerous high speeds.
According to the Sandusky Register, it all started when police say they found Greathouse in a parked car after she was accused of following another woman…with Greathouse allegedly driving away from police when they told her she had active warrants.
Huron Police are among over 600 law enforcement agencies nationwide today that will participate in “Operation Clear Track”…to raise awareness and enforce state railroad grade crossing and trespassing laws.
The Huron P-D will be stationed at the Berlin Road Crossing from 8 to 11 am…and the Main Street Crossing from 12 noon to 3 pm…issuing citations and warnings to violators…with officials handing out railroad safety cards to motorists and pedestrians.
Wadsworth could become the next city in northern Ohio to address a major sanitary sewer project.
According to the Medina Gazette, the Ohio E-P-A is calling for new infrastructure…and a new storage area to replace 9 sanitary sewer overflow sites.
A city-wide cleanup event is set for Saturday in Sandusky.
It’s open to Sandusky residents only; happening from 9 am to 1 pm at the Shelby Street Boat Launch.
Items that can be dropped off include mattresses, furniture, prescription pills; as well as passenger and light truck tires.
Items that will NOT be accepted include paint, household trash, TVs and construction debris.
The City of Sandusky’s finance department has been recognized for excellence in reporting and sound practices.
They’ve been presented with the “Auditor’s Award with Distinction”.
