Erie County/Train crash victim not ID’d

The victim of a fatal train/car crash in Erie County last week has not yet been identified.

According to the Sandusky Register, a coroner will use DNA and dental records to help with the identification.

The crash took place Wednesday evening on State Route 61 between U.S. 6 and State Route 2 in Berlin Township; where authorities say a vehicle went through a crossing and hit a moving train.

 

Seneca County/Fatal Crash

A Fostoria man was killed in a two-car crash Monday evening in Seneca County’s Loudon Township.

The State Highway Patrol says Dustin Soals suffered fatal injuries after running a stop sign while driving on State Route 587 at the intersection of U.S. 224 where he was struck by another vehicle; eventually hitting a sign post and then a house.

 

Huron County/Criminals face punishment

Three Bellevue men are facing possible prison time in separate cases.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that 20-year-olds’ Joshua Thom and Matthew Robbins, who both pled guilty to a robbery last August, could both receive two years behind bars.

48-year-old Samuel Bowlin has been sentenced to just over four years in prison.  He pled guilty in February to multiple felonies including breaking and entering and drug charges….following an arrest last September in Norwalk.

 

Lorain County/Elyria gets second medical marijuana dispensary

A second medical marijuana dispensary is on its way to Elyria.

City Council has endorsed a ‘conditional use permit’ for AFS Cultivation, which hopes to open the business on Cleveland Street, late spring or early summer.

Elyria’s first medical marijuana dispensary opened last month on Sugar Lane.

 

Erie County/Sandusky PD awards top officer

The Sandusky Police Department has handed out some hardware.

Evan Estep has been named their 2018 Officer of the Year.

 

Huron County/City of Norwalk hiring

Now hiring…the City of Norwalk…

The Norwalk Municipal Court is looking for a part-time clerical specialist.

The deadline to apply is March 29th…with applications available at municipal court or on the city’s website (www.norwalkoh.com).

 

Lorain County/Wright Brothers’ sister

Orville and Wilbur Wright might have grabbed the headlines more than 100 years ago, but their sister Katharine played a key role in their aviation ventures.

Katharine Wright attended Oberlin College, and her life will be remembered tonight, as actress Stephanie Kramer shares a first-person portrayal…presented by the Oberlin Heritage Center.

Tonight’s program will begin at 7 at Kendal-at-Oberlin.
