State News/Statewide tornado drill
Today marks the annual statewide Tornado Drill.
It’s in recognition of Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week.
It takes place at 9:50 this morning…with the state encouraging businesses, schools and citizens to take part.
Several local communities will be testing their outdoor sirens today as well.
Huron County/No news on missing Norwalk woman
No new information on a missing 50-year-old Norwalk woman…
The daughter of Arleen Brush reported her missing on March 2nd.
The Norwalk Police Department tells the Norwalk Reflector they have nothing on Brush’s whereabouts…and there are no signs of foul play.
Anyone with info should contact the Norwalk PD.
Lorain County/Elyria murder suspect
Elyria Police and the feds continue their search for a Lorain man…a man they consider ‘armed and dangerous’.
34-year-old Ivan Brooks of Lexington Avenue in Lorain is accused of shooting and killing 45 year old Terrence Taylor, at a home in the 800 block of Broad Street, just west of downtown Elyria.
Officials say, Brooks was released from prison about a month ago…he was there on drug charges…
Erie County/Sheriff’s cruiser crash
A sheriff’s deputy with Erie County experienced minor injuries after he crashed his cruiser into a utility pole Monday morning.
According to the Sandusky Register, 25-year-old Benjamin Cooper was cited with speeding and failure to control.
Authorities say Cooper was going around 75 miles-per-hour on State Route 113 in Florence Township when he went left of center, overcorrected and went off the right side of the road; striking a utility pole that broke in half.
Copper was reportedly responding to a non-injury, non-emergency crash.
State News/Turnpike’s E-Z Pass gates to be removed
E-Z Pass gates will soon be coming down on the Ohio Turnpike.
Various media outlets report that the removal of E-Z Pass gates will allow pass holders to drive at full speed if they’re travelling the full length of the Turnpike or 10 to 15 miles-per-hour for other E-Z Pass travelers.
Officials hope to have the new system in place by 2022.
Huron County/Former Browns player part of Willard “Family Night”
Preparations are being put together for “Family Night” at Willard City Schools next Wednesday.
Former NFL running back Willie Green will speak to students throughout the day and to the community in the evening…about the topics of good ethics and positive choices.
