Sandusky County/Criminal investigation in icy pond crash
A criminal investigation is now underway from Sunday’s fatal four-wheeler accident in Sandusky County’s Ballville Township.
43 year-old Matthew McCabe of Fremont died after his utility vehicle he was a passenger in went through a thin layer of ice in a frozen pond.
According to the Sandusky Register, law enforcement is awaiting lab results that are checking the driver’s blood alcohol content from the night of the crash.
Sandusky County/Sheriff’s Department extra patrol
The Sandusky County Sherriff’s Office says they will have extra patrol on the roads in February.
The extra efforts will focus on promoting safety and drawing awareness traffic during Super Bowl weekend; as well as enforcing all traffic laws with emphasis on impaired driving, speed enforcement, seat belt violations and distracted driving.
Erie-Huron County/Water, snow, ice issues
With the rain and temperatures on the rise, flooding as well as issues with melting snow and ice are occurring here locally. The city of Sandusky is asking residents to clear snow from catch basins so the melting snow and rain have a path to the sewer system.
Norwalk is reminding their residents to check their drainage and sump pumps as localized flooding is likely over the next day or two.
Erie County/Sandusky City Schools winter community forums
The second of two winter community forums for Sandusky City Schools takes place tonight, which will focus on grades 7 through 12.
It begins at 6:00 pm in Room 300 of the high school.
