Huron-Erie County/Flooding

Weather news and notes this morning…

A Level One Snow Advisory is in place in Erie and Huron counties due to snowy and icy conditions; which has resulted in several 2-hour delays and a few closures for local schools.

A Flood Warning is in effect through 10:00 tonight.

The City of Norwalk issued a flood warning late last night for the Norwalk creek with Elm and Water streets prone to flooding.

 

Erie County/Milan Road injury crash

A Norwalk man was charged with failure to yield in an injury crash late Wednesday morning on Milan Road in Perkins Township.

According to the Sandusky Register, 79 year-old Robert Windnagle allegedly drove into an oncoming lane, hitting another vehicle, while turning onto Milan Road from a parking lot between Mason and Scheid roads.

Windnagle and the passenger of the other vehicle were transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

 

State News/Governor DeWine launches Recovery-Ohio Listening Tour

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine makes his first stop of the Recovery-Ohio listening tour today…as he plans to speak with an overdose action team in Dayton that includes 150 agencies that work together to prevent, treat, and promote recovery from the drug epidemic.

Governor DeWine, last week, announced the formation of the Recovery-Ohio Advisory Council.

 

Huron County/“Assists for a Kure” game

A boys high school basketball game Tuesday night help raised some money for a good cause.

During “Assists for a Kure” night at Willard between the Flashes and St. Paul Flyers, over $2,000 was taken in to help with brain research of rare diseases in remembrance of Willard assistant coach Dave Hirschy‏’s wife, Kathy, who passed away last October.

 

Erie County/Coffee with a Cop

A number of local dignitaries will be on hand Saturday morning at the Bay Bell Restaurant in Bay View for “Coffee with a Cop”.

They include Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth, State Highway Patrol Sandusky Post Lieutenant Brett Gockstetter and Bay View Police Chief Helen Prosowski.

 

State News/Auto Show

As the North American International Auto Show winds down in Detroit, tickets are now on sale for the Cleveland Auto Show that’ll run from February 22nd through March 3rd at the I-X Center.

In addition to the latest and greatest vehicles, 11 different brands will offer outdoor ride-and-drives.
