Vermilion police officer’s firing will stand

The firing of a former Vermilion police officer two years ago will stand.

An Erie County Common Pleas Court judge ruled Monday against Michael Reinheimer, who was attempting to overturn his dismissal in November of 2015.

The 16-year employee was let go due to a number of reported violations of department rules and regulations.

 

Burglary under investigation in Perkins Township

A burglary in Perkins Township is under investigation.

The reported incident took place Friday night at a home on West Stoneway Drive, between Campbell and Columbus.

Credit cards and jewelry were taken from the home while family members were away.

 

Maple City Ice strike continues into second work week

 Maple City Ice drivers in Norwalk have entered the second full work week of their strike and day 12 overall.

Those on strike say the company wants to stop making contributions to their pension fund.

Maple City Ice has released a statement saying their company is not taking pensions away; but that the striking employees do not belong to the company’s pension plan; that they instead belong to a Teamster’s pension fund that is running out of money.

 

Huron County Sheriff investigating non-injury shooting

 The Huron County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a non-injury shooting incident in Bronson Township.

According to authorities, a residence and vehicle on New State Road were reportedly shot at with a firearm early Saturday.

 

Driver receives minor injuries in semi roll-over in Bellevue

 A truck driver received minor injuries when he lost control of his semi full of baking goods in Bellevue late Friday.

The male driver from New York was on State Route 4 southbound between State Route 547 and Seel Road went he went off the highway and clipped an electric pole; which dropped wires on his overturned semi.

The road was closed until Saturday morning.

 

Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities hosting recruitment fair

A recruitment fair hosted by the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities will take place Wednesday at their offices in Norwalk.

The fair, running from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, will feature several local agencies that are looking to interview potential employees that are interested in providing services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
