‘State of the State’ set for tonight in Sandusky
Heightened security should be expected tonight for residents and visitors of Sandusky as Governor John Kasich makes his ‘State of the State’ address at the Sandusky State Theatre.
Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth told the Sandusky Register that there will be a very visible presence of uniformed officers in the area around the theater; both before and during the event.
Street closings and parking bans will also be in effect today starting at 9:00 am; on Water Street and Columbus Avenue.
The speech begins tonight at 7:00 pm.
Norwalk City Council to hold second reading on medicinal marijuana issue tonight
A second reading on the issue of allowing medicinal marijuana cultivation is planned for tonight’s Norwalk City Council meeting.
Two weeks ago, the issue passed a first reading.
During last week’s work session, council voted down Stephen Schumm’s legislation 4 to 3 from being on tonight’s agenda on the issue of prohibiting medicinal marijuana processing and cultivation.
State Fire Marshal visiting Norwalk today
State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers will be making a stop today in Norwalk.
Flowers and staff will be at the Norwalk Fire Department as part of their 2017 Listening Tours, where staff connects with local fire department members to discuss challenges, needs and ideas; along with providing an update on upcoming initiatives.
‘Indivisible Rally’ to take place today in Sandusky
Coinciding with Governor John Kasich’s ‘State of the State’ address tonight in Sandusky will be an ‘Indivisible Rights Rally’ at the Washington Park Gazebo.
Tonight’s rally will focus on equal pay for American women and will feature state legislatures as guest speakers.
It takes place from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
Sandusky man in trouble for allegedly sucking quarters out of laundry machines
A 45 year-old man faces criminal charges after allegedly sucking quarters out of laundromat machines in Sandusky.
Dale Kelly is accused of opening the tops of machines on Cleveland Road and using a shop-vac to suck the quarters out.
Kelly has been charged with theft, vandalism, and possession of criminal tools.
He’s also accused of stealing loose change from a Cleveland Road gas station air pump machine in January.
