Ohio Department of Health holding opiate drug news event in Norwalk
In conjunction with Governor John Kasich’s ‘State of the State’ address in Sandusky, The Ohio Department of Health will be holding a news event on Tuesday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk to talk about opiate drug abuse, Project DAWN and the use of naloxone.
It will feature speakers including Ohio Department of Health Interim Director Lance Himes and Huron County Public Health Commissioner Tim Hollinger.
It gets underway at 10:30 am in Jennings Auditorium.
PTO in Norwalk replaces dance DJ after child pornography charges were found
A DJ scheduled for tonight’s Norwalk Elementary PTO father-daughter dance has been replaced…after it was discovered that he had a past child pornography-related offense… whose registration requirement has expired.
Dan Brown of Norwalk was originally hired to DJ the event before the PTO was made aware of Brown’s past from a non-profit organization that advocates for abused children.
Norwalk Superintendent George Fisk told the Norwalk Reflector that the laws and policies concerning background checks for district employees do not extend to external groups such as the PTO.
Sandusky man charged with multiple drug offenses
A Sandusky man…already charged with several drug offenses last month and released on bond…now faces additional drug charges after law enforcement executed a search warrant at his Reese Street residence on Wednesday.
According to the Sandusky Register, 40 year-old Damon Newell faces five new felony charges after crack cocaine and heroin was found.
Be aware of electric bill scam
Area law enforcement agencies have issued a warning about a scam going on involving electricity bills.
Callers apparently are posing as First Energy or Ohio Edison employees and threatening residents to pay their electric bills or their electricity will be shut off.
It’s recommended that you ignore those calls and call your electric company if you’re concerned.
Scheduling taking place now for Norwalk Local Schools’ kindergarten screenings
For those in the Norwalk school district – if you have a child that will be 5 years-old by August 1st, you can schedule them now for kindergarten screenings.
There are four dates available: April 25th and 27th and May 2nd and 4th.
