Wakeman woman dies in Lorain County crash
A Thursday morning crash in Lorain County resulted in the death of a Wakeman woman.
50 year-old Joanette Mullins was killed while a passenger in a vehicle that ran a stop sign at the intersection of State Route’s 511 and 303 in Camden Township; which was then struck in the side by a pick-up truck and eventually hit a utility pole and street sign.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured and last listed in stable condition.
Boy banned permanently from Huron County Fairgrounds
A boy has been permanently prohibited from visiting the Huron County Fairgrounds and could face charges; after he allegedly started fires in a men’s restroom last weekend.
The Norwalk Reflector says the young man told a Huron County Sheriff’s Deputy that he started two fires “because he was bored”.
The boy was apparently brought to the fairgrounds by his grandfather for a gun show; and had stolen a lighter from his mother.
The fires didn’t cause any damage.
Milan hires new Fiscal Officer
The Village of Milan has hired one of their own to be their new Fiscal Officer.
Edison High School graduate and accountant Michael Scott Palmer was chosen among 12 candidates to replace Mary Bruno, who was let go last month due to alleged monetary irregularities.
Palmer’s first day on the job was Thursday.
Huron County Public Health promoting dangers of secondhand smoke
Huron County Public Health has received an anti-tobacco state grant; which they will be using to promote awareness on the dangers of secondhand smoke and the benefits of smoke-free environments.
According to numbers from the Center for Disease Control, secondhand smoke leads to the death of over 41,000 non-smokers and 400 infants each year in the US.
