Norwalk Police Officer injured in altercation

A Norwalk Police officer received minor injuries in an altercation with an intoxicated man. The Huron County Sheriff and Norwalk Police responded to a 911 call on Sunday involving 24 year-old Patrick Russell of Norwalk; who was drunk and making threats to harm himself. Russell was charged with disorderly conduct.

 

Norwalk girls’ basketball team makes history

The Norwalk girls’ basketball team made history Saturday night by winning the program’s first district championship. Head coach Brock Manlet told his team that they will be remembered forever in the history of Norwalk High School and that he really thanked the community for getting behind and supporting the Lady Truckers. Norwalk rallied from six points down to beat Bellevue after star Jiselle Thomas missed most of the 4th quarter due to injury. The Lady Truckers face Norton in the regional semi-finals on Tuesday night at Mansfield Senior High School; on 95.3 WLKR, immediately following the St. Paul boys District game.

 

Willard man may now face charges after first saying he was attacked

A man who reported to Willard police that he had been attacked by juveniles may now be facing criminal charges himself. The Norwalk Reflector says the man showed up at a gas station covered in blood on February 23rd and told police he did not want to press charges and didn’t remember what his attackers looked like. After checking the supposed crime scene, a trail of blood led police to a home on Woodbine Street where the resident there told authorities that the man had came home drunk and injured himself while breaking a window.

 

Huron County grand jury indictments

Two Huron County residents have been indicted by a grand jury. 32 year-old Glenn Gardner of North Fairfield on various drug possession charges from an incident in August. Also, 29 year-old Tiffany Fritz of Willard from an incident in July on theft involving a dangerous drug.

 

Woman banned from BGSU campus

A 57 year-old Milan woman has been banned from the BGSU Firelands campus after allegedly making threats to another woman. According to the Sandusky Register, Christine Myers has been charged with menacing after an incident on Friday afternoon. The victim told authorities that Myers threatened her “life, job, and family” on multiple incidents. Myers is scheduled to appear in a Huron courtroom on Tuesday.
