Norwalk college student in Akron accused of fatal stabbing
A college student from Norwalk attending the University of Akron is accused of fatally stabbing a fellow student early Saturday morning. The Akron Beacon Journal reports that 22 year-old Kendal Clifford Scheid, a 2012 St. Paul graduate, is in a Summit County jail after being charged with felonious assault; following an apparent drunken argument with his 23 year-old male roommate from Newark, who died from his injuries late Monday afternoon. Officials say they are investigating the death as a homicide.
BGSU Firelands to host “Quick Enroll Night”
BGSU Firelands College in Huron is hosting a ‘one stop’ event for prospective students to complete the majority of their enrollment needs. The ‘Quick Enroll Night’, which takes place Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm , allows for students to be admitted to the college, register for classes, speak with financial aid counselors, and complete assessment testing if needed; all in one evening. Norwalk Bicentennial Calendars have arrived just in time for the holidays. The calendars, available for $5 at the Huron Chamber of Commerce office, feature facts and photos from Norwalk history along with 2017 events. Other Norwalk Bicentennial merchandise is available at the chamber office as well.
Final week for leaf pick-up in Willard
This marks the final week for leaf pickup in Willard. Leaves will be collected now through 12:00 noon Wednesday to the north of the Myrtle Avenue train tracks and east of Myrtle, with everything west of Myrtle Avenue to be picked up from Wednesday afternoon through Friday
