Perkins K9 Uganda passes away
Perkins Township Police Department K9, ‘Uganda’, has died. The police dog passed away late Saturday night after a blot clot following surgery due to an injury during a training exercise last week.Uganda had been working for the Perkins Police since 2011; assisting with the apprehension of criminals, making drug seizures, and locating missing people.
Sandusky’s Maui Sands hotel to be featured on Travel Channel program
The Travel Channel is bringing its’ ‘Hotel Impossible’ reality show to Maui Sands Resort in Sandusky. The one-hour weekly show, according to their website, features a hotel that’s having problems, with those problems then identified and renovations made to the hotel; in hopes of a transformation. Hotel co-owner Kirit Parmar told the Sandusky Register that after previous struggles with marketing, the show will give them the marketing they need. The air date of the program has not yet been announced.
City of Norwalk to use new “RITA” tax agency for filing and payments
The City of Norwalk will start using the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) for collection and filing of its income taxes starting in 2017. The RITA agency, including a wide variety of online payment options; is located at www.ritaohio.com. Norwalk asks residents at this time though to continue to file and send payments with the City of Norwalk; as additional information will be announced before January 1st.
Firefighter’s Chili Cookoff winners
The 16th Annual Firefighter’s Chili Cookoff took place Saturday at Sandusky’s Lyman Harbor. The Wellington Fire Department were the overall winners; narrowly defeating the firefighters from Danbury, with the Florence Township Fire Department finishing third. Florence Township firefighters also took home the “People’s Choice” award.
