Five people are in the race, for three Norwalk school board seats.
Three incumbents—Janet Broz, Steve Linder and Rob Ludwig—will be challenged by Kevin Cashen and John Aschemeier. In Huron and New London, seven people are running for three school board seats, and in Monroeville five people are running for three seats. 4pm yesterday was the deadline to file petitions, for the November ballot.
In Sandusky, eight people have filed petitions, to run for three city commission seats.
Two current city commissioners are not among them. Pervis Brown is unable to run because of term limits, while Diedre Cole opted not to file petitions. Throughout the area, there are numerous races for village and city council, and township trustee.
As far as issues, there’s just one countywide issue in Huron County.
It’s a .55 mill renewal and increase, for Services for Aging. Also on the fall ballot—a 1.25 percent replacement income tax, for the Norwalk City Schools. As we told you yesterday, the Perkins school board is going back to voters, with a 10-year, 6.73 mill emergency operating levy.
