Get ready for more road work, in Monroeville.
Today through Friday, State Route 99, just south of Route 547 will be closed, for railroad crossing repairs. Also starting today—U.S. Route 20 in Monroeville will be down to one lane each way, as part of a resurfacing project. Work should be complete sometime in October.
An update, on work being done along State Route 61, between South Norwalk Road in Norwalk, and New Haven Township.
One-lane traffic will continue until mid-July, at four different spots along 61. Snyder Road, at 61 remains closed. In the city of Norwalk, West Main Street, between Manahan and Minard will be down to one lane during the day, starting today. Bridge work will be done, for an upcoming paving project. That project will last approximately three weeks.
Graduation ceremonies were held at a number of area schools yesterday.
That list includes Clyde, Edison, Huron, St. Paul, Sandusky, Sandusky St. Mary Centeral Catholic, and Western Reserve. Monroeville and Bellevue held commencement ceremonies on Saturday. Norwalk and Willard will graduate their seniors this Sunday.
A Castalia man got more than he bargained for, during a weekend robbery attempt in Sandusky.
According to reports, Ronald Stidham Jr. tried to rob Cliff’s Carry-Out on Pierce Street late Friday night. Stidman brandished a knife at a clerk…But the worker pulled a gun, and told the would-be robber to get down. Sandusky police were called in, and Stidham was taken to the Erie County Jail. He’s facing several felony charges.
A weekend melee in downtown Norwalk sent two people to the hospital, and one man to jail.
Bradley Loucks of Wellsville, Kentucky was arrested for misdemeanor assault, after the early Sunday morning brawl. Two others were taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center, for treatment of significant lacerations. According to police reports, at least two people went through a plate glass window at a vacant store on Whittelsey Avenue, across from the fire station. More than a dozen people were involved in the fight. Police are still sorting out exactly what happened.
