Close to 20-thousand cases of COVID were reported Wednesday statewide…compared to the 21-day rolling average that is now in the 14-thousand range.
In Huron County, 107 cases were reported yesterday.

As Norwalk City Hall remains closed to the public because of COVID concerns, Mayor Dave Light and his wife are recovering from their own cases of the virus.
Light told Norwalk Ohio News.com that he’s only endured mild symptoms, such as having less than normal energy and the loss of taste and smell.
Light is expected back to work on Friday.
City Hall will stay closed through January 19th.

Police are investigating a Sandusky woman’s death as a suspected homicide.
According to the Sandusky Register, 24-year-old Trinidy Jones was found dead in her residence on Aspen Run Road on Wednesday.
An autopsy is scheduled to be done in the near future, to determine the exact cause of death.

Police were called to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center where doctors were treating a man with a gunshot wound.
They then went to Brace Avenue and found another man, shot dead.

In Medina County…the county’s first fatal crash of the New Year…
The Highway Patrol says, it happened on Mennonite Road in Wadsworth Township when it appears, the 17-year-old driver lost control of the car he was driving and struck a utility pole.

Firefighters in Elyria are investigating a fire that damaged a repair shop and sent two people to the hospital.
It happened yesterday in the 12-hundred block of Lowell Street.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public of a phone scam.
They say that their phone number has been spoofed, with the scammer identifying themselves as Detective O’Brien, who gives the phone call recipient an 800-number to call a lawyer.
Again this is a scam, and if you receive the call, just hang up and do not give out any information.
