20,900 cases were reported on Sunday statewide…those numbers from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day combined.
Huron County had 90 new cases reported over the same 2-day holiday period.

A COVID cancellation…
The City of Norwalk’s annual “Family First” New Year’s Eve event at the Ernsthausen Community Center has been cancelled due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Norwalk and Huron County.

A Bellevue man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Seneca County late last night.
Brian Sampsel was 41.
The crash occurred on County Road 34 in Thompson Township where authorities say Sampsel drove off the road, struck a tree and overturned several times.
Two passengers received minor injuries.

A one-time Police Chief of Perkins Township has been sentenced to a year of community service.
According to the Sandusky Register, 59-year-old Timothy McClung, who was police chief from 1995 to 2008, has pled guilty to felony theft.
He was accused of improperly using a credit card of a business in Illinois, depriving the business of over one-thousand-dollars.

Elyria police will have access to new virtual reality training software after Elyria city council approved a five-year, 53-thousand dollar contract with Axon Enterprise.
Chief Bill Pelko says this will help officers prepare for a diverse range of situations they may encounter on patrol.

The pyrotechnics will be shot off from the edge of Jackson Street Pier.

A “furry family” was rescued by Lorain police over the holiday weekend as the Lorain police department discovered a litter of puppies and their mother in an alley off Broadway.
The pups were transferred to the Friendship APL where they are now being cared for!
