Governor Mike DeWine released a statement Tuesday following the George Floyd verdict in Minnesota.
DeWine said that “our system of justice worked”…and…“as we go forward as a nation, we must learn from the tragic death of George Floyd”.
Former Minnesota Police Officer Derek Chauvin (“Show-vin”) was found guilty of second and third degree murder and second degree manslaughter, in the death of Floyd.

The victim of Saturday’s shooting outside of the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky is the parent of a middle school basketball player coached by the alleged shooter…this according to the Sandusky Register.
Mario Lacy Sr. of Euclid has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 33-year-old male in the parking lot of the sports facility.
The victim reportedly received non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Tuesday, Lacy remained in the Erie County Jail.

In Huron County COVID-19 numbers…
12 new cases were reported on Tuesday.
13 new cases have been reported this week at the Laurels of New London nursing home, 9 of those being residents.

Today, Lorain County Public Health will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at T-3 Sports near Crushers’ stadium in Avon.
The Moderna vaccine will be offered until 2pm.

Friday, the city of Lorain will honor the late poet, Helen Steiner Rice, with Mayor Jack Bradley proclaiming the day in her honor.
A ceremony will be held Friday afternoon outside the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church on Meister Road.
Rice was born in Lorain in 19-hundred.
April 23rd marks the 40th anniversary of her death.

The Lorain County Commissioners say, they will decide an annexation request in early May.
A developer from Grafton is asking the commissioners to annex 41 acres of land from Eaton Township to Grafton Village, so he can build 55 houses…the final phase of a 4-phase development.

Officials at Oberlin College say, they expect to return to a two-semester model when classes resume in the fall.
They went to a three-semester model this year, due to COVID-19 concerns.

Chalk one up for Huron County.
According to the Norwalk Reflector, the county was awarded a victory in a legal showdown with Erie County regarding an argument over trash-hauling.
Erie County now owes Huron County for damages for violating a contract involving Erie County’s carrying of Huron County’s trash to the Erie County landfill.
The amount Erie County owes Huron County will be decided in the trial’s next phase.
