In Huron County COVID-19 numbers…
According to Norwalk Ohio News.com, the county had 40 new cases reported on Tuesday, with the county currently sitting at a Level 3 Red in the state’s color-coded ratings for COVID-19 spread.

For the second straight day, the state saw a record number of COVID-19 hospitalizations, with 585.
The state also saw the most Corona Virus ICU patient admissions since the pandemic began, with 47, on Tuesday.

Along with the winter storm Tuesday morning, came power outages for Norwalk residents.
Good news though, as FirstEnergy reports that all power has been restored, as of this morning.

This morning, about 46-thousand First Energy customers are without power….most of them, in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga Counties.
About a dozen customers in Lorain County remain in the dark.

Extra patrol will be on the roads this month in Sandusky County, thanks to a state grant.
They’ll be enforcing all traffic laws, with emphasis on impaired driving, speed enforcement, seat belt violations and distracted driving.

A close call in Amherst on Tuesday afternoon…
A derailed train missed the main electrical source for all of Amherst’s 12,000 residents…by about 50 feet.
The train derailed just after passing under Route 58.
No hazardous materials were spilled, and no one was hurt.

The Sandusky Post of the State Highway Patrol is recognizing their best employees of 2020.
According to the Sandusky Register…Christopher Capizzi, a grad of Sandusky Central Catholic, was named Trooper of the Year.
Heidi Maloy, a grad of New London schools, received the award for Dispatcher of the Year.

A total of 8 small business grants will soon be distributed to businesses in Willard.
The city is giving out grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.
The first check has been presented to the Willard Hope Center.

Today, the Lorain County Commissioners are expected to award federal CARES Act money to several non-profits, including “Avon Lake Community Resource Services” and “North Ridgeville Community Care”.

Trustees of the Lorain Public Library System have hired an architect for renovation and expansion of the Avon library branch.
If all goes well, groundbreaking could occur in June, and work could be wrapped up a year later.
…construction made possible by voters, who approved a bond-issue earlier this year…

There will be no “Sharing Christmas” this year.
Organizer Donna McKinney says, the annual meal and delivery has been cancelled due to COVID 19 concerns and a lack of volunteer-drivers.
In recent years, more than 500 people attended the meal at St. Vincent DePaul church on North Ridge Road in Elyria, and volunteers delivered another 600 meals.
