Huron County had 5 new cases reported Wednesday to equal 538.

Huron County Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at a Norwalk nursing home.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that, as of Tuesday, there were 7 confirmed cases at Gaymont Care and Rehab, which includes 6 residents and 1 staff member.

Ohio Department of Health Interim Director Lane Himes has signed the ‘Dine Safe Ohio Order’.
The order allows all food establishments to resume use of their self-service food stations along with the reopening of banquet and catering facilities.

In Sandusky, there’s a new police chief.
Erie County Sheriff Deputy Jared Oliver has been named to the top job, replacing John Orzech, who’s retiring and will work as Sandusky’s assistant city manager.
Oliver has been with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office since 1997.
He’ll start later this year.

New London Police Chief Mike Marko is staying put.
Marko, who had originally announced his resignation last year, had planned to stay on until a new chief was named.
However, Marko has rescinded his resignation and will remain on as chief going forward.

An Erie County Dispatcher has been recognized for her performance in helping resolve a critical incident.
Laura Roeser has received a Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association Commendation Award.
Officials say that Roeser helped relay vital information during a situation involving a suicidal male in Sandusky earlier this month, which ended peacefully.

A funeral service will be held tomorrow at Calvary cemetery in Lorain for a long-time, local leader in the Democratic Party.
Catherine “Cutty” Catanzarite was 95.
She also worked as an administrator in Lorain County Domestic Relations Court.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a lawsuit, to prevent First Energy from collecting new fees on utility bills in January, to bail out their two nuclear power plants in Ohio.
The filing comes at a time when state lawmakers are trying to decide what to do about previously-passed legislation that allowed the fees, and that’s at the heart of a federal corruption investigation.
That investigation led to the arrest of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder.

Nearly two dozen employees of the county library district will have their hours cut, due to COVID 19 ramifications.
According to the Medina Gazette, it’s a 20-percent cut that’ll run from October 11th through January 2nd.

Willard’s date is Thursday, October 29th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
New London will hold theirs on Saturday, October 31st from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
Norwalk had previously announced their Trick-or-Treat for October 31st from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
