A Facebook post led to rumors of a gun threat at Norwalk High School this morning.
Superintendent Dennis Doughty said police investigated the alleged threat and found is wasn’t creditable. Parents are encouraged to call with questions.
It’s primary Election Day.
The polls will be open until 7:30 tonight. You can hear complete results, on 95.3 WLKR and K96.
There are just two races. In Huron County, Republicans must choose between incumbent county commissioner Joe Hintz of Norwalk, and challenger Bob Morgan of North Fairfield. The winner will face Democrat Dennis Stieber in November.
In Erie County, two Republicans are vying to face Democrat Marcy Kaptur in the 9th District Congressional race this fall. The names on the ballot are Robert Horrocks Jr. of Lakewood, and Richard May of Cleveland.
There are five school issues on the ballot.
One is the Norwalk City Schools ‘five for five’ levy. In Perkins Township, there’s a new 10-year, 3.9 mill levy. The remaining three school levies are renewals—A five-year, 5.4 mill renewal in the Willard School District, and a five-year, 3.2 mill renewal in the Sandusky City School District. Clarksfield Township voters living in the Wellington School District are deciding on a 10-year, 5.2 mill renewal.
There are two more issues in Clarksfield Township.
One is a five-year, .4 mill renewal for current expenses. The other is a five-year, .9 mill renewal for roads and bridges.
In the village of Wakeman, voters will decide on a five-year, one-percent income tax renewal.
Tri-Community Ambulance District voters are deciding on a three-year, three-quarter mill EMS renewal.
In Castalia, the issue is a five-year, 4.6 mill replacement levy for current operating expenses, and in Margaretta Township, voters will say yes or no to a new five-year, half-mill levy for cemeteries.
In the city of Norwalk, voters are deciding on two charter amendments. One would extend city council terms from two to four years. The other would allow city leaders to look outside for new police or fire chiefs, if no internal personnel applies, or is qualified.
Five people have been named as finalists, in the search for a new Sandusky City Manager.
All five are from northeast Ohio. The list includes three city leaders, a lawyer, and Sandusky’s chief planner, Rebecca Corrigan, who lives in Cleveland. All five will be interviewed soon.
