A bit chilly out there as we wake up today…
Temperatures in the upper 30’s to low 40’s with a Frost Advisory in effect now through 9:00 am.
The Highway Patrol is investigating an apparent head-on crash on Baumhart Road in Lorain County’s Brownhelm Township.
It happened late yesterday afternoon, and involved a car and a dump truck.
At least one person was taken to the hospital.
Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair, has announced that recently-acquired Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron will temporarily close in the coming weeks as a multimillion dollar renovation project is set to begin.
Cedar Fair officials say the project includes updates to the resort’s guest rooms, meeting spaces and common areas.
The golf course, marina and shops will remain open during renovation.
The resort’s ‘Festival of Lights’ holiday light display will not take place this winter; but will be evaluated for a future return.
The resort will close November 4th and will reopen next summer.
A fourth informational public meeting for Port Clinton’s city wide infrastructure plan is scheduled for Thursday.
The $20-million project calls for the replacement of vital waterlines and the repaving roads that most need it.
The public is encouraged to ask questions to city officials and plan designers who’ll be on hand at the 6:00 pm meeting…to be held at the Ottawa County Family Advocacy Center.
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office wants to get the word out about a fairly new program called “Project Lifesaver”…which involves placing a tracking device on those who tend to wander off, such as dementia patients or those with developmental disabilities.
Those interested in taking part in the program are encouraged to give the Sheriff’s Office a call.
The Sandusky Mall is starting to prepare for a new tenant.
According to the Sandusky Register, renovations have started on the former Sears location; which will be the site of a new Hobby Lobby store.
Hobby Lobby is expected to open its doors in the second half of 2020.
The numbers are in, and they show…56 of 64 Lorain County alcohol retailers passed the most recent ‘secret shopper-style’ compliance-check, conducted by health and law enforcement groups.
The so-called ‘secret shoppers’ visited Lorain County convenience and grocery stores, service stations, and taverns…expecting to be ‘carded’.
