The FBI says, they now consider a man who grew up in Lorain, one of the nation’s worst serial killers.

79 year old Samuel Little has been convicted of killing 8 women, and claims he killed at least 80 more, from 1970 to 2005, including three in northeast Ohio.

Little has been in prison since 2012.

 

A North Canton man has been indicted in Huron County…charged in last month’s robbery of Miller’s grocery store in Norwalk.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that 28-year-old Austin Collins is accused of stealing over 13-thousand-dollars from the store after allegedly walking in to the store, demanding money and fleeing on foot.

 

North West Street is now back open in Norwalk…

It was closed for a few hours last night due to a downed phone line across the road. 

 

Two Sandusky residents face felony charges for their alleged involvement in violent incidents with police officers.

According to the Sandusky Register, 19-year-old Allajawon Groce led police on a foot chase following a traffic stop…with Groce eventually ending up at his home where he allegedly attempted to have his dog attack an officer. 

Police say 52-year-old Amy Sutherland then started to argue with them and attempted to burn an officer’s arm with a lit cigarette. 

 

On the ballot next month in Huron County is a .725 mil levy that would go to improve the county’s 9-1-1 emergency services. 

According to Huron County EMA’s Tacy Bond, the levy would cost the owner of $100,000 home, about 25-dollars a year.

Bond tells WLKR/K96 News that the improvements would include an increase in data for “next generation 9-1-1”, faster data, better location accuracy and the ability to text for 9-1-1. 

 

The Ohio Department of Transportation says they’ve made some improvements to a Huron County intersection in hopes of reducing crashes.

LED stop signs have been installed at Route 601 and North Greenwich Milan Town Line Road, where they intersect with Route 18.

Rumble strips are scheduled to be installed later this week.

 

Oberlin College’s Board of Trustees has voted to appeal the jury-verdict in the case brought by Gibson’s Bakery.

The jury awarded Gibson’s 26-million-dollars in damages after finding the college and the college’s Dean of Students liable, for a protest by students after allegations of racial discrimination.

Attorneys representing the college filed a Notice of Appeal yesterday in the Ninth District Court of Appeals in Akron.

Board Chairman Chris Canavan cited free speech and the college’s financial health in the appeal.

 

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program will make a stop in Huron County next Wednesday for a Medicare Check-Up-Day event.

Officials from the state’s Department of Insurance will be on hand to assist those in attendance with any questions they might have on Medicare.

It will take place at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, beginning at 9:00 am. 

 

The Ohio Department of Transportation is gearing up for winter weather, and they need seasonal, C-D-L drivers to get behind of wheels of those big snow plows.

Saturday, ODOT will host a ‘hiring event’ at the Grafton Outpost on Avon Belden Road.

It’ll run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm…

 

Some fall cleanup dates to remember from the City of Norwalk…

 The city’s annual brush pickup is set for October 21st through 25th…followed by limited fall trash pickup on October 28th through November 1st

 All trash will be picked up on resident’s regular trash day.
