A 23-year-old Sandusky man died in the waters of the Sandusky Bay Wednesday evening.
According to the Sandusky Register, the victim was on a boat with another man when he left the boat voluntarily; but was unable to stay above the surface.
The other man attempted to save him to no avail.
The victim’s body was found by first responders an hour later, 30 yards off Cement Avenue near Lions Park in 10 feet of water.
His identity has not yet been released.
One person is dead as the result of a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Huron County.
The State Highway Patrol says the victim drove through a stop sign on State Route 162 in Greenfield Township and collided with a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Ven Beat of Norwalk on State Route 61.
Beat was seriously hurt and taken to Mercy Willard Hospital…the other driver, their identity not yet made known, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have arrested a Sandusky man that allegedly fled from police by car after stealing from the Norwalk Walmart.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that 52-year-old Eddie Willis of Sandusky was taken in by the Erie County Sherriff’s Office Wednesday; charged with failure to comply with police and robbery…and has an existing theft warrant from Lorain County.
Willis reportedly eluded law enforcement and their spike strips Sunday night while driving from Norwalk to Sandusky…after allegedly injuring a bystander during an attempt to stop him outside of the store.
Whether or not state lawmakers approve tacking on a new fee to resident’s electric bills by Sunday to help keep two nuclear power plants around…might be a moot point.

Trustees of the Lorain Public Library System have passed a resolution, urging Governor Mike DeWine to maintain public library funding in the upcoming state budget that takes effect Monday.
The resolution states; lawmakers have reduced public library funding by 23-percent over the past 18 years.
