Huron County/Prison time for two people in unrelated crimes

Two people face prison time in Huron County for unrelated crimes.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that both 33-year-old Adam Copsey of Norwalk and 30-year-old Anthony Gillespie, formerly of Bellevue, have been sentenced to two-and-a-half years behind bars…

…Copsey for drug trafficking and Gillespie for domestic violence, robbery and theft.

 

Ottawa County/Motorcycle crash

The driver of a motorcycle was injured in a crash with a car Tuesday in Ottawa County.

According to the Sandusky Register, the motorcycle and car struck each other just after 12 noon at East Lockwood and South Plasterbed roads in Portage Township said Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Levorchick.

The driver of the motorcycle was flown to a Toledo hospital.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.

 

Huron County/Health Department offers tick bite prevention

According to the Ohio Department of Health, diseases spread by ticks have become more frequent in the last decade…the most common include Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Huron County Public Health is urging residents to take steps to protect themselves against tick bites while outdoors this summer.

Such as avoiding wooded and brushy areas with high grass or leaves…checking for ticks following time outdoors…and removing ticks right away by using tweezers.

 

Huron County/Engineer’s Office seasonal employment

Looking for summer work?

The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications for seasonal jobs; now through September.

Jobs are available in flagging, general maintenance, litter clean-up, mowing and pothole patching.

You must be a high school grad and have a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Pay begins at $10 per hour

Applications are available at the Engineer’s Office on Jefferson Street in Norwalk or online at www.HuronCountyEngineer.org.

 

Lorain County/Fugitive found

The U-S Marshalls Office credits the public with helping them track down a Lorain man…a man they considered ‘armed and dangerous’.

Police say, 18-year-old Javian Davis led them on a car chase last month, in which he struck another vehicle, injuring 3 people.

Davis had previously pled ‘guilty’ to making threatening phone calls to Elyria High School, back in September.

 

Lorain County/Health Assessment

Tomorrow, Lorain County Public Health will release details of its 2019 Community Health Assessment.

Previous health assessments helped partners identify areas that needed improvement, including; improving access to care…and improving weight issues.

 

State News/Brown introduces bill to help improve Ohio election security

Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s camp says they have joined 37 Senators in the introduction of the ‘Election Security Act’.

They say the legislation will improve election security and combat foreign interference.

It will require backup paper ballots and provide election security grants to states for audits and cyber improvements.
