Erie County/Wednesday morning shooting suspect arrested

A Sandusky man was arrested Wednesday in connection with firing multiple gun shots towards at least two people earlier that day.

According to the Sandusky Register, 20-year-old Clabe Taylor was charged with felonious assault after police responded to a report of shots fired around 1:00 am Wednesday on Decatur Street near Sandusky Digital Academy.

No one was struck by the gunfire.

 

Ottawa County/Port Clinton state of emergency

City officials have declared a state of emergency for Port Clinton.

Mayor Mike Snider declared the emergency Thursday afternoon…due to historic high-water levels that have displaced a substantial amount of sand from the city’s beach and is causing concern for other areas of the city’s lakeshore and riverfront.

The city beach there is closed until further notice.

 

Lorain County/More on Elyria raid

Two men face drug charges, after this week’s raid by police, on a home on Chestnut Street in Elyria.

Wednesday, police and members of the Lorain County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant, arrested the men, and hauled away several boxes of evidence.

 

Erie County/Police participating in ‘Cop on a Rooftop’ fundraiser

Erie County law enforcement officers are on the roof of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 250 across from Meijer in Sandusky this morning…all part of the ‘Cop on a Rooftop’ fundraiser.

They’ll be accepting donations until 12 noon for Special Olympics Ohio.

 

Lorain County-State News/New bill aims to reduce high school exams

Former teacher…and current State Representative…Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville…has introduced a bi-partisan bill that would reduce the number of state-mandated high school exams.

Manning says, the state is currently emphasizing ‘testing’ more than ‘learning’.

 

State News/U-A-W President to speak with striking Toledo nurses

Striking nurses and support staff at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo are bringing in the ‘big guns’ today.

Their union leader…U-A-W President Gary Jones…will address the workers who have been off the job since earlier this month.

The strike began after 10-month of contract talks.

 

Huron County/New London Council borrowing money for campground

City council in New London has agreed to borrow some cash for improvements to their campground.

According to the Norwalk Reflector, 30-thousand-dollars from their CSX fund will be used to purchase a gate system.

 

Erie County/Cedar Point to debut ‘Monster Jam Thunder Alley’ this weekend

Cedar Point’s latest attraction will open to the public this weekend…Monster Jam: Thunder Alley.

It will feature an up close and personal look at the king-sized trucks of Monster Jam along with truck rides.

The action begins Saturday…and runs through June 30th.

 

Erie County/Kids Fest and Safety Fair

The annual Wightman-Wieber Kids Fest and Safety Fair is set for Saturday from noon to 4:00 pm at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion.

Due to high water levels on the Sandusky Bay, the festival’s free rides on the Goodtime-One have been moved…they will now board from the Goodtime-One’s home on the Jackson Street Pier.

Free shuttles on the Sandusky Transit System will be offered during the event.
