Huron County/Drug dealers from Norwalk sent to prison

A man and woman from Norwalk have been sentenced to prison time for drug dealing in unrelated incidents.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that 19-year-old Robert Sams has been convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to four-and-a-half years behind bars.

32-year-old Amy Copsey has pled guilty to aggravated meth trafficking in a plea deal where six felonies were erased.  She’ll spend close to five years in prison.

 

Erie County/Huron mayor says arresting woman at council meeting was justified

Huron Mayor Brad Hartung is standing by his decision of arresting and removing resident Stacy Hinners from a city council meeting on Tuesday.

According to the Sandusky Register, Hartung said Hinners was asked to follow the rules of the meeting; but ignored them, was gaveled twice and continued to disrupt the meeting.

Hinners faces a charge of ‘disturbing a lawful meeting’.

A video of the incident has made its rounds through social media and YouTube.

Hinners and her husband are both lawyers.

 

Lorain County/Elyria drug raid

Elyria Police say, they expect to release more information today, about a raid yesterday, on a home on Chestnut Street.

Two men were taken into custody, and narcotics detectives removed several boxes of materials from the home.

 

Huron County/Click It or Ticket’ Campaign Kick-Off

Huron County Safe Communities Coalition is holding the first of two ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign kickoff events today…

From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Bellevue McDonald’s…

Another such event is planned for Tuesday at the McDonald’s in Willard.

 

Erie County/Country rapper Colt Ford to play at Sports Force Park

The second edition of the Sandusky Shores Music-Fest takes place this summer at Sports Force Parks.

The first of this year’s performers has been announced…country music rapper Colt Ford.

Ford is known for co-writing and originally recording Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem”.

The venue is expected to name more acts and ticket information soon for the Saturday, August 17th show.

 

Huron County/Willard Fire Department open house

Willard Fire and Rescue is opening its doors to the public this Saturday as part of National Emergency Medical Services week.

The open house event runs from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with fire station tours, life-saving equipment demonstrations and family friendly activities.

 

State News/State Auction is Saturday

The state’s next auction, set for Saturday in Columbus, will feature several unique items, including an industrial table saw, a zero turn 22 power mower, and a “Cleveland Tilt Kettle”.

You’ll also have a chance to bid on laptops, copiers and cassette recorders.

Everything will be sold “as-is”, with no warranty or guarantee.

 

Lorain County/“King of Wings”

Nine restaurants in Lorain County have signed up, to compete for the title “King of Wings”.

The second annual competition…presented by “Visit Lorain County”…will run through June 2nd.

Those 9 restaurants will serve up their best or most creative wings for 7-dollars-per-pound, and hope you cast your vote for them.
