Erie County/Walls rape trial
It’s day three of a trial in Erie County Common Pleas Court involving a man being accused of raping his daughter from a young age to a teenager.
According to the Sandusky Register, 22-year-old Megan Walls took the stand yesterday…where she said her father, 54-year-old Michael Walls, committed the crimes in two of their homes; in Berlin Heights and Sandusky.
This is the second trial for Michael Walls…he was convicted of several rape charges in 2016 in connection with his daughter’s allegations…but won an appeal last year, with a state court reversing his conviction and granting him a new trial.
Erie County/DeJesus to speak at BGSU Firelands tonight
A ten-year Cleveland kidnapping survivor is set to speak tonight at BGSU Firelands’ in Huron.
“Missing: A Survivor’s Story with Gina DeJesus” will include DeJesus and Cleveland-area law enforcement in a panel discussion.
The event runs from 6:30 to 8:00-pm in the Cedar Point Center Auditorium; and is free and open to the public.
Medina County/FBI warning comes after Brunswick church scammed
The FBI is warning businesses and organizations to beware…after the St. Ambrose Catholic Parish in Brunswick was hacked…and scammed out of nearly 2-million-dollars.
According to church officials, the scammers convinced them that a construction-company working on the church, had changed banks and wiring instructions.
The FBI says, scammers used a variety of tools, including spoofing email-accounts and websites with slight variations on addresses…and bogus emails believed to be from trusted senders.
The FBI is encouraging businesses to verbally verify the authenticity of these kinds of emails.
State News/House Bill 154
An Ohio House committee has voted 11 to 2, in support of a bipartisan bill submitted by State Representative Joe Miller of Amherst, regarding state takeovers of struggling school systems.
House Bill 154 would dissolve existing Academic Distress Commissions like the one in Lorain, and prevent others from being formed.
The measure now heads to the full House for consideration.
Sandusky County/Fremont PD hiring
The Fremont Police Department says they’re in the market for dynamic law enforcement professionals.

Erie County/Kalahari job fair
A job fair will take place today at Kalahari Resorts in the Sandusky-area.
They say they’re hiring for all positions…and you must be at least 16-years-old to apply.
It runs from 10 to 5 in their convention center.
Erie County/Voting for Sandusky USA Today’s “Best Coastal Small Town”
Lake Erie Shores & Islands wants to remind residents that there’s less than one week left to vote Sandusky for USA Today’s “Best Coastal Small Town.”
Voting is open through next Monday at 12 noon.
Sandusky has been consistently in first or second place throughout the contest.
