Vermilion/High school open following threat
Vermilion Schools Superintendent Phil Pempin says, the High School will be open today, with additional security.
Pempin made the announcement last night on social media after school officials and police investigated an unspecified threat.
He says, several students have been removed from the high school and will not return until a hearing is held.
Huron County/New president named at Norwalk Catholic School
Norwalk Catholic School has named Martin Linder as their new president, effective August 1st.
He will succeed the retiring Dennis Doughty, who has over 40 years in education; including the last five years as president at Norwalk Catholic.
Linder is a 1999 alum of Norwalk Saint Paul High School; with more than 15 years of educational experience.
State News/Distracted driving enforcement numbers
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says over-250 distracted driving citations were issued during a recent statewide, week-long initiative.
Of those, three were in Lorain County, two in both Huron and Sandusky Counties and one in Erie County.
The patrol joined forces with other members of the 6-State Trooper Project; including Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia; with just over 1,600 total citations wrote up.
Erie County/New Sandusky City Hall opening date
Officials hope to move in to the new Sandusky City Hall in less than two months.
According to the Sandusky Register, city commissioners say they want to hold their regular public meeting from the new location at Columbus Avenue and East Washington Row…on June 24th.
It’s part of a near 12 million dollar improvement project, which broke ground in the fall of 2017.
Huron County/Health Department recommends child immunizations
This is Infant Immunization Week; and Huron County Public Health says they want to encourage parents to protect their children from disease in one of the best ways they can; by making sure their child has all of their vaccinations.

Ottawa County/Marblehead nature preserve expansion
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has announced the purchase of more than 100 acres of land, to expand a nature preserve on the Marblehead Peninsula.
A federal grant will cover 75-percent of the cost.
Vermilion/Reception for new library leader
A reception will be held Thursday night for the new director of the Ritter Public Library in Vermilion.
Joy Walk has been serving as Interim Director since December when Holly Linn stepped down after 3 years.
Huron County/Norwalk Rotary “Pizza & More” is tonight
The Norwalk Rotary Club is hosting their annual “Pizza and More” fundraiser tonight at Norwalk High School.
It helps raise money for the club’s “Caring for Kids” projects.
You can get your fix of pizza and other local food items from 4:30 to 7:00-pm.
