Erie County/New Executive Director at United Way
There’s a new leader at the United Way of Erie County.
Kimberly Ray was hired earlier this month.
Ray is a Lakota High School graduate and has degrees from Ashford and Grand Canyon Universities.
She previously worked for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Sandusky County/Mock crash event
The Sandusky County Sherriff’s Office says to not be alarmed by the amount of emergency vehicles that will be at Clyde High School tomorrow.
It will be part of the “Keeping Dreams Alive” mock crash event…beginning at 11:30 am.
There will be a mock crash scene and staged court hearing; intended to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving.
Lorain County/Drug Take Back Day numbers
The numbers are in, and they show, more than 47-hundred pounds of unwanted medications are out of Lorain County homes, on their way to proper disposal.
The drugs were dropped off at police departments Saturday during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The goal is to keep the medications out of water supplies, landfills, and the hands of unintended users.
Huron County/Norwalk Aldi store to close for renovations
The Norwalk Aldi grocery store will temporarily close this summer for renovations.
An official from the store tells the Norwalk Reflector that they will reopen with a “fresh new look” in the fall.
No word yet on exact dates for closing and reopening.
Erie County/Sandusky street closing
The city of Sandusky says West Jefferson Street, east of Decatur Street to the 400-block of Jefferson, will be closed this week through Friday.
The closure is due to property demolitions on both streets.
Huron County/Spring brush pickup begins Monday in Norwalk
The city of Norwalk is holding their spring brush pickup this week.
Residents on city streets may place cut brush on the curb for pickup on their regular trash day.
Also, weekly curbside yard waste pickup begins in Norwalk today.
Lorain County/Job fair for teachers
Tomorrow, the Educational Service Center of Lorain County will host a job fair for educators…with opportunities available in several school systems for the 2019/2020 school year.
Among them…Firelands, Keystone and Oberlin.
Tomorrow’s Job Fair will run from 10-am until 4-pm at the Educational Service Center on Lake Avenue in Elyria.
