Local News/Winter weather updates

As we dig out from the snow this morning, here’s a look at the latest winter weather info:

Snow Emergency levels:

Level One: Lorain and Sandusky County

Level Two: Erie, Huron, Ottawa

-Area city parking bans have been lifted in Norwalk, Port Clinton and Vermilion.

-Wind Chill Advisory in effect now through 12 noon today. The National Weather Service says very cold wind chills expected; as low as 20-below-zero.

 

Huron County/Norwalk meth lab suspect to prison

A 35 year-old man faces three years in prison in connection with a Norwalk drug raid last February.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that Brandon Henderson was punished for his role in a meth lab on Cline Street.

 

Erie County/Sandusky hosting MLK Day events

Sandusky is hosting multiple events today honoring the legacy of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior…

The day’s activities include the dedication of a MLK bust in Washington Park’s Freedom Plaza this afternoon at 3’o-clock.

 

State News/Governor announces formation of RecoveryOhio Advisory Council

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced the creation of a new council that will advise his office on matters concerning mental illness and substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery support services in Ohio.

Governor DeWine signed an executive order Friday creating the Recovery-Ohio Advisory Council.

 

Erie County/Mucci now allowed expansion due to lighting

Huron has placed a ban on Mucci Farms from expanding their facility next to BGSU Firelands because of light pollution issues caused by venting.

According to the Sandusky Register, city officials supported the moratorium at a recent meeting.

Lights of orange and yellow in color have been brightening local skies, which reportedly can be seen around 30 miles away and have caused many disturbances to local residents.

The lighting issue is up for discussion at tomorrow evening’s city council meeting.
