Erie County/Man arrested for allegedly recording young boys
A 39-year-old Shelby man has been arrested after Erie County authorities reportedly found inappropriate videos of young boys once recorded in Sandusky and Wakeman.
Thomas Close, who’s allegedly affiliated with the Boy Scouts, admitted to making the videos at the Sandusky YMCA and a Wakeman reservation between 2011 and 2018.
Investigators also reportedly found a major amount of child pornography in his home.
Erie County/Felony domestic violence
A Sandusky woman was arrested Thursday for felony domestic violence.
34-year-old Kimberly Evans allegedly punched a man after claiming he assaulted her earlier in the day.
Erie County/Elderly woman faces jail time for yard
An 89-year-old Sandusky woman could go to jail for 10 days if her property isn’t cleaned up by November 14th.
Judge Erich O’Brien gave Elaine Martin the punishment after an ongoing zoning violation case due to Martin’s land being reportedly riddled with old cars.
Her grandson, who collects and repairs old automobiles, reportedly says he should be allowed to continue to use the property for commercial purposes.
Huron County/Norwalk school and police levies
A couple of levy issues to think about in Norwalk…
The Norwalk City School District is offering up a 4.85 mills renewal levy that would generate $1.5 million per year for 10 years that would fund science, technology, engineering and math opportunities.
Also, the Norwalk Police have a tax levy replacement on the ballot Tuesday. Police Chief Mike Conney says the members of the police department strive daily to fulfill the agency’s mission: enforcing the law and providing quality service to Norwalk citizens.
Currently, Norwalk property owners of a home valued at $100,000 pay $5.24 annually; the proposed levy will increase that amount of tax to $31.50 per year.
Local News/Early Voting
Early voting is going on through the area ahead of Election Day on Tuesday.
In Huron County, you can vote early today until 7:00 pm, 8 to 4 on Saturday, 1 to 5 on Sunday and 8 to 2 on Monday.
