Fremont/Authorities looking for man accused of assault
Police are searching for a Fremont man who’s accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
Warrants are out for the arrest of 43-year-old Frank Jones of Port Clinton Road after Jones allegedly hit a female victim in the head and stomach on Tuesday; and then fled in her car with her phone.
If his whereabouts are known, police encourage you to not confront him, but to contact authorities.
Norwalk/Multi-use trail could be in the works
Norwalk City Council voted this week to pursue an ODOT grant that would likely lead to a multi-use trail project.
The $1.1 million project would upgrade a railroad bed into a paved path spanning two miles north of Veterans Memorial Lake Park and ending behind Bishman Park across from the Ernsthausen rec center.
If the grant is awarded, construction would begin in 2021.
Norwalk/Free Medicare event coming to Huron County
A free “Welcome to Medicare” event will take place on Wednesday of next week in Norwalk.
The 6:00 pm event at Norwalk High School will feature experts from the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program.
Monroeville/Students chose for state program
Two Monroeville High School students have been selected to take part in an intensive state education program involving Ohio government.
American Legion Post 547 have picked juniors Samuel Littlejohn and Benjamin Schafer to participate in American Legion Buckeye Boys State; where they will operate a local, county, and state government for a mythical 51st state.
It takes place next month at Miami University in Oxford.
Milan & Willard/Tree City USA
Two local towns have been named a “2017 Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation.
Milan and Willard have received the honor by meeting certain criteria such as having a tree board or department and a tree care ordinance.
Huron/Friends of Old Woman Creek 20-year anniversary
The Friends of Old Woman Creek are hosting their 20-year anniversary celebration on Saturday at the nature preserve on Cleveland Road East in Huron.
The event featuring numerous activities, vendors and a guided hike; runs from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
