Suicidal man saved by Sandusky police
Police officers in Sandusky are being commended for saving a suicidal man from jumping from an overpass on Milan Road on Wednesday.
When officers arrived and tried talking him out of jumping, the man reportedly asked the officers to shoot him and then took two bottles of pills as he said he wouldn’t feel anything as he jumped.
When the man looked away, officers moved in and grabbed the man’s arms and belt and lifted him to safety.
The man was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
Accident in Huron County seriously injures both drivers
Both drivers were seriously hurt when a car hit a semi head on Thursday morning in Huron County.
According to the State Highway Patrol, 25 year-old Bryson Kuhl of Lagrange drove his Ford Taurus left of center and into the path of a semi truck while driving on State Route 18 in Clarksfield Township.
Kuhl and the semi driver; 40 year-old Craig Morrison of Lower Salem, Ohio, were flown to Cleveland Metro for treatment.
Sandusky man indicted on murder charge in shooting death
The Sandusky man accused of shooting and killing another Sandusky man has been indicted on murder and drug charges.
30 year-old Joel Miles was indicted by an Erie County grand jury Thursday in the death of 46 year-old Anthony Pearson on August 2nd.
Miles’ girlfriend, Amy Matos, was also indicted on obstructing justice charges.
Huron County Commissioners looking for new EMA Director
County commissioners in Huron County are in search of a new EMA Director after Jason Roblin resigned last month.
Former and retired director Bill Ommert has been serving as interim director during the transition period.
Commissioners will soon be advertising for the open position soon; as well as the newly created ‘9-1-1 Coordinator’ job.
Attorney General DeWine offers tips on solar eclipse glasses
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is offering some consumer protection tips ahead of the August 21st solar eclipse.
The American Astronomical Society (AAS) warns that it has received reports of fake solar eclipse glasses being sold. These glasses do not properly filter the sun’s rays, and, in turn, may damage a person’s eyes.
DeWine says to visit aas.org to find a reputable dealer and to not use homemade products or ordinary sunglasses.
Huron County Fair – Friday
You can get a dollar off admission to the Huron County Fair in Norwalk today from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm with a donation of a non-perishable food item.
Donations will support the Salvation Army.
As for tonight’s grandstand entertainment, look for the rough truck competition at 6:30 pm.
Price of dog tags in Huron County to possibly increase
An increase of $2 could be coming to dog tags in Huron County.
Huron County Dog Warden Gary Ousley told county commissioners this week that tags need to be raised from $16 to $18.
Commissioners plan to place a resolution on their agenda next week reflecting the $2 increase.
Ousley cited that tags in Erie County would still be higher at $20.
