Milan man charged with domestic violence
A Milan man faces domestic violence charges after allegedly attacking a woman early Sunday morning.
30-year-old Troy Harlow of Mason Road is accused of slamming a female victim into a mirror; as well as holding a rifle by his side and threatening to kill her.
Harlow is also charged with aggravated menacing and criminal damaging for allegedly smashing a window and TV screen as well as punching holes in the wall.
Vermilion man arrested for OVI and fleeing accident
A 32-year-old Vermilion man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident.
Gregory King of Portside Drive was charged with OVI and refusing to take a sobriety test along with leaving the scene of a two-vehicle non-injury crash at Ohio 60 and Sailorway Drive.
Erie County Humane Society expansion project has begun
Construction is underway on phase one of three for the Erie County Humane Society’s animal shelter expansion.
Phase one, totaling close to 2,500 square feet, includes three dog isolation areas, two dog meet and greet rooms and an intake area for cats.
The first phase should be finished in about two months.
The total expansion project, when complete, will double the size of the current shelter.
Touch-a-Truck event going on in Sandusky tonight
The 4th annual National Night Out ‘Touch a Truck’ Family Fun Event takes place later on today in Sandusky’s Paper District Marina.
The event allows children the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of emergency, utility and sports vehicles from around the area; as well as being a part of “America’s Night Out Against Crime” with a focus on crime prevention.
The free event runs from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
School board in Bellevue looking for replacement
The Bellevue City Schools board of education is looking for a new member.
The open position is for the term expiring at the end of this year; to replace Valerie Gore, who has resigned.
Those interested should submit a letter to the Bellevue Board of Education by August 11th.
Safety grant awarded to Huron County
Huron County will share close to $295,000 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation with 11 other state employers.
$21,000 in funds has been approved for equipment to eliminate or reduce workplace injuries at CB Excavating and Trucking, a contractor for the county.
