Missing Vermilion man found dead
A Vermilion man reported missing earlier this month has been found dead from an apparent suicide.
22 year-old Michael Penton of Mason Road had been missing since April 9th after walking out of his parent’s house without his personal belongings.
Police discovered Penton’s body Friday morning in the woods surrounding his home.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Department told the Sandusky Register there were no signs of foul play.
Drug epidemic likely at an all-time high in Sandusky
New statistics show that Sandusky’s drug epidemic is likely the worst its’ ever been.
The Sandusky Fire Department said the number of times Narcan was used to revive overdose victims has increased from 43 people in 2013 to 173 in 2016; with 77 people so far this year.
The average before that being around five per year.
Those numbers coming from a panel discussion on Opioid addiction Saturday at the Erie County Office Building; including Sandusky and Perkins first responders and administrators.
Woman from Chile faces deportation after theft incident in Sandusky
An incident in the Best Buy parking lot in Sandusky leaves a woman from Chile facing deportation.
Authorities found over $5,000 worth of stolen electronics in her car after an incident Saturday evening where a man allegedly dropped three sets of expensive headphones from his shirt while running from the store.
The man got away; but the 20 year-old woman was identified as being with the man in a car near the store. She was later processed for deportation by the Border Patrol after being taken to the Erie County Jail.
Get ‘Dressed for Success” at Goodwill before Hiring Fair
The Huron County Department of Job and Family Services are hosting a hiring fair on Wednesday.

‘Dress for Success’ runs today from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at The Job Store at Huron County Job and Family Services in Norwalk; where attendees will receive ‘bonus bucks’ from Goodwill to pick out a new outfit to wear at the hiring fair.
Infrastructure work continues in Norwalk
Roadwork continues in Norwalk this week on two infrastructure projects.
For the Milan Avenue Project, traffic will be maintained while utilities are re-located on both sides of Milan Avenue from East Main to League Street.
Also, Old State Road between Akron Road and Executive Drive will be closed for the Old State Widening Phase 1 Project.
Construction is expected to last through at least the first week of May.
