Northern Richland County received as much as two inches in 90 minutes. There was minor street flooding in Port Clinton. A nice weekend is in store with sunshine and highs around 80. Next week, things will heat up with temperatures in the upper 80′s.
Perkins police are working to ID a man who stole two diamonds from a mall jewelry store.
According to reports, the man walked into Osterman Jewelers Wednesday afternoon, and told a clerk he was looking for a new diamond for his wife. An employee pulled out two 1-carat diamonds, which the suspect grabbed, then ran from the store. He was described as a black man, with a noticeable gap between his teeth.

State Route 101, or Tiffin Avenue, from Harbor Blvd to just south of Superior Street in Sandusky is now open.
It was closed, for work on the railroad overpass. Motorists on Route 101 will travel on the overpass. The project is nine months ahead of schedule.
Charges are pending against several people in the Mansfield area accused of making moonshine.
Deputies say the still was stashed inside the laundry room of a home in Bellville. The residents claim they use the moonshine for fuel.
The Ohio Department of Education has released its newly revamped school report cards.
Instead of categories like ‘excellent with distinction’ or academic emergency, schools now receive letter grades ranging from A to F. Area schools falling in the ‘A’ category: Bellevue, Edison, Huron, Margaretta, Monroeville, Plymouth and South Central. Schools with B include New London, Norwalk, Perkins and Western Reserve. Willard received a C, while Sandusky received an F.

There’s a high school football doubleheader scrimmage tonight at Whitney Field in Norwalk. St. Paul and Edison will scrimmage at 5 and then Norwalk and Clyde will follow at 7:15. Admission is free. The 2013 high school football season begins one week from today.
