Former Huron County Sheriff’s deputy suing sheriff
A former sheriff’s deputy in Huron County is suing the sheriff’s department for wrongful termination.
69 year-old Terry Shean, a 33 year veteran with the agency, has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court requesting an undisclosed amount in compensation and punitive damages.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that Shean claims she was ‘wrongfully terminated’ this year by Sheriff Todd Corbin in retaliation to “her public expression of speech protected by the First Amendment.”
Shean has also filed a disability discrimination charge against Corbin.
Woman’s body found in Lake Erie identified
A woman’s body found in Lake Erie earlier this month has been identified.
Authorities say it is 40 year-old Detroit resident Jennifer Chambers; whose body was found by a fisherman north of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, four miles offshore.
Chambers was last seen on December 11th last year after her vehicle went into the Detroit River.
An autopsy confirmed that Chambers drowned.
Sandusky boy charged after pulling pellet gun
A 14 year-old boy in Sandusky has been charged with inducing panic after allegedly pulling a pellet gun on two people.
An 18 year-old told police he was driving near East Madison and Warren streets; when a group of kids threw bricks at his van after he confronted them.
The driver said a boy then drew what appeared to be a handgun and said “I got a gun!”
The boys told police they showed the pellet gun to protect themselves.
Man indicted after violating protection order
A Grafton man arrested last year by Norwalk Police has been indicted on a count of retaliation for violating a protection order.
28 year-old Joseph Farris was arrested after allegedly hiding near a back door of an ex-girlfriend’s residence.
Farris was also charged with menacing by stalking in an incident between May and September of last year; which he pleaded guilty to and was sentenced to 17 months in jail.
Norwalk construction projects going on this week
Work is underway this week on two separate projects in Norwalk.
The 2017 Milan Avenue Project in Norwalk includes gas main services being re-located on the east side of Milan Avenue; with work taking place from East Main to League Street.
Also, work continues on the Old State Widening Project with Old State Road closed between Akron Road and Executive Drive.
