Clyde girl was driving over 65 mph in October fatal crash
The Clyde girl charged with aggravated vehicular homicide that killed a 16 year-old passenger was driving close to 70 miles-per-hour on a county road when she ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. The Norwalk Reflector says this comes from a State Highway Patrol investigation. Tori Meggitt was a 16 year-old driver back in October when the crash took the life of Emily Wagner of Clyde and severely injured a 17 year-old male passenger. Meggitt was also charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault.
Volunteer firefighters needed in New London
New London is in need of volunteer firefighters. The fire department told village council Monday they currently have 24 volunteers, but would like to have 30. Anyone interested should get a hold of New London village hall for applications.
Erie County Sheriff’s Office grants
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has received a $37,000 grant in federal traffic safety funding with a goal of reducing fatal crashes. The sheriff’s office will use the grant for high-visibility enforcement patrols in high-crash areas such as US 250 and State Routes 2, 4, 60, and 61. During March, deputies will utilize the funds over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Norwalk Area United Fund’s ‘Dine-out’ fundraiser stops by The Freight House today in Norwalk. Part of today’s sales there will go to the fund’s 2017 campaign to benefit nearly 40 grants and programs.
