Perkins woman indicted on murder charges
A Perkins Township woman has been indicted on two murder counts. 35 year-old Christine Gilbert was arrested in late January when her boyfriend, 44 year-old Jamie Wilburn, was stabbed and killed; after the couple got into an argument at their trailer on West Perkins Avenue.
Perkins Township crash results in three injuries
Three people were injured in a one-vehicle crash in Perkins Township on Tuesday. The Highway Patrol says 27 year-old Melissa Mattox of Port Clinton was on Strub Road when she overcorrected and drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Two passengers, 25 year-old Lauren Spears of Port Clinton and 30 year-old Jonathan Torres of Port Clinton, were treated for injuries at Firelands Regional Medical Center; with Spears later flown to a different facility by medical helicopter.
Speed and alcohol are not considered factors.
Norwalk School Board discusses Whitney Field improvements
The school board at Norwalk has authorized accepting a quote for stadium improvements at Whitney Field. The Norwalk Reflector says the $282,000 quote includes adding brace supports and aluminum decking to the home bleachers to reduce swaying. After the plans are drafted and approved by the state, work can begin. There was been some push back on the improvements though; including the suggestion of building a new stadium altogether.
Parma man arrested following pursuit in many counties
A 40 year-old Parma man is in jail on several charges after a lengthy police pursuit through Sandusky, Erie and Ottawa Counties. Steven Michel was first made contact with by a Milan post trooper in a service plaza due to a fictitious license plate before driving away and traveling through Bellevue, Clyde, and heading towards Fremont. Michel’s car was eventually spotted in a residence’s driveway in Ottawa County; where he was taken into custody and charged.
Lorain man charged with 6th OVI while driving on Route 2
A man from Lorain has been charged with OVI for the sixth time. Anthony Carter was arrested while on Route 2 in Berlin Township after the Highway Patrol received calls of a reckless driver.
