Drug overdose at Huron County Jail
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office says a woman had a drug overdose in the Huron County Jail on Monday. Jennifer Villareal was discovered unconscious by jail officers; where she was then given CPR while an emergency squad was called.The inmate had overdosed on suspected heroin that was concealed in a body cavity by her cellmate. Criminal charges are pending.
Local tourism promoter Joan Van Offeren dies
Joan Van Offeren, a 31 year employee of Lake Erie Shores and Islands, has passed away. She was 64. While battling cancer, Van Offeren continued to positively promote area attractions in Erie and Ottawa counties. She was most recently the Community Relations Director at Shores and Islands.
Bellevue boy struck by car while crossing the street
A boy was injured in Bellevue on Monday after being struck by a car while riding his bike. It happened Monday afternoon when a 13 year-old Bellevue boy was hit by 29 year-old Anthony Fries of Bellevue; who said he looked away from the road for a second, and when he looked up, the boy was in front of his vehicle. The boy was taken to a Toledo hospital for treatment. Fries was cited for an expired drivers license and full time attention.
Norwalk Area United Fund Dine-out at Pizza Post today
The Norwalk Area United Fund’s ‘Dine-out’ fundraiser makes a stop today at The Pizza Post in Norwalk. A portion of today’s proceeds there will support the fund’s 2017 campaign to benefit 37 local programs and grants.
